June 5, 2020

Over the past couple weeks, Vancouver has continued to see people re-emerge from self-isolation, mindful of the need for social-distancing and keenly aware of the fact that COVID-19 is still a concern. This is British Columbia’s “new normal.”

For some, the chance to go outside more and perhaps even to begin seeing limited friends and loved ones is a welcome thought. For others, the idea of navigating city sidewalks or visiting the grocery store may be daunting. The Province’s careful and measured approach to getting out into the “new-normal” is sensible and tailored to help keep the public safe. It also helps guide businesses and infrastructure as they reopen and resume operations.

Phase 2 of the BC Restart Plan includes guidelines for social interaction. Interactions inside your “bubble,” which includes members of your immediate household and very limited/select individuals, are generally safe interactions when accompanied by vigilant hand hygiene and surface cleaning. Expanding your “bubble” can be safe if meeting friends and family in groups of no more than two to six people, practicing physical distancing, and limiting time spent together. Safe social interactions should take place outside as much as possible. And as always, it is crucial to stay home if feeling sick or symptoms of cold/flu, and to be extra mindful of those at greater risk.

Some tips for staying safe as you start to interact with your community:

BC has extended the state of emergency to June 9th, and we are still some weeks away from Phase 3 of the Restart Plan, but we are getting there. Slowly and carefully.

As we see more and more businesses begin to reopen in line with BC’s Restart Plan, Brightside looks forward to being able to safely welcome you back to our office when the time is right. In previous briefs, we shared that we will be implementing increased health, cleanliness and safety best practices as part of our re-opening. The health and safety of our residents and staff continues to be our highest priority. We want you to be able to visit Brightside with absolute confidence so we have developed specific protocols to elevate our existing high standards of hygiene and cleanliness procedures. While our plans evolve and work towards being finalized, we wanted to share some of the new practices as part of our commitment that you can expect to see when we re-open.

Office Updates

At this time, the Brightside office remains closed to walk-in guests. We are, however, inviting residents back to the office as needed, by appointment only. All guests will be asked to follow a series of strict safety protocols to ensure the health and safety of our staff and future guests.

Brightside staff continue to manage business operations remotely, from our individual homes. Some staff will return to the office on a rotating schedule to allow social distancing and to minimize exposure. Staff will also be encouraged to stagger arrival and departure times. We will continue to keep you informed as to if/when the office will re-open to the public. We thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

** Please note: Beginning June 8, Brightside will be changing distribution of COVID-19 Briefs to bi-weekly distribution.

As always, we continue to request that residents confirmed to have COVID-19 inform Brightside immediately. Your privacy is of paramount importance to Brightside and this information will be taken in confidence to help ensure protective measures are taken.

If you are experiencing extraordinary hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we invite you to contact our office by phone or by email as we may be able to provide assistance. You can contact us by email at info@brightsidehomes.ca, or leaving a voicemail at 604-684-3515 for more information.

Practice social distancing, wash your hands often, and stay safe.
