It takes the work of a community to protect our most vulnerable of neighbours from abuse, neglect, and self-neglect. Awareness is key. Educate yourself on the different types of abuse, neglect, and self-neglect, how to spot the signs, and understand what you can and cannot do if you see or hear something troubling. If you see something, say something. Learn. Volunteer. Look out for each other. Wear purple on World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD), which takes place annually on June 15. It’s takes all of us to make our community a safe, secure, and inclusive place to live.
