In 2020, Brightside adopted the ambitious goal of doubling the number of affordable homes we provide by 2030. Redevelopments and new developments are essential to realizing this goal and ensuring that we are able to provide more quality, affordable homes for seniors, families, individuals, and people with disabilities. 95 Nelson Street (formerly 990 Beatty St.)

95 Nelson Street – OPENING 2029

95 Nelson Street (formerly 990 Beatty Street), is a partnership between Brightside Community Homes Foundation, City of Vancouver, and BC Housing that will provide 283 residential units, as well as a firehall and a 44-space childcare facility. Affordability levels are 20% shelter rate, 50% rents-geared-to-income rates, and 30% low-end-of-market rates.

Sunrise Village: East & West

2924 Venables Street – OPENING Early 2027

Originally constructed in 1977, 2924 Venables Street is located in the Hastings-Sunrise neighbourhood of Vancouver. The original building was a three-storey wood frame building with a total of 64 homes, housing exclusively seniors. The proposal is to replace the existing 64 units with 146 units of affordable rental homes for seniors and families.

The Hawthorn

8705 French Street – NOW OPEN

8705 French Street is located in the Marpole neighbourhood of Vancouver. The Hawthorn provides 100 new non-profit rental homes for independent-living seniors, families, and people with disabilities. The new building features Passive House construction for climate resilience and energy efficiency, as well as many accessibility features.

Timbre & Harmony

1425 & 1451 East 12th Avenue – NOW OPEN

Timbre and Harmony, located in the Grandview-Woodland community of Vancouver, replace 57 units originally constructed in 1962 and 1971 with 157 units of affordable rental homes for seniors. These new Passive House Certified buildings are highly energy efficient and climate resilient, offering greater thermal comfort during heat events. Fully accessible homes are available.
