Community Engagement Summary Update
As part of Brightside’s development plan for 349 East 6th Avenue (Mount Pleasant Lions Manor), Brightside’s community engagement efforts are designed to give the community an opportunity to provide input on the preliminary plans before submitting a formal rezoning application.
Our thanks to everyone that participated in the community engagement process – participants included members of the community, local businesses and community groups, Brightside residents, and many others.
Feedback has proven to be notably positive, with the majority of respondents indicating strong support for increasing the number of affordable rental homes in the community.
- 91% of respondents agreed that increasing the amount of affordable rental homes for families in the area is important, and 90% agreed it was important for seniors
- 100% of respondents agreed that the environmental sustainability of a redevelopment project is important
- Bike parking and community spaces were the design elements of the proposal that represented the highest level of respondent satisfaction
Comments and feedback collected vis-a-vis the community engagement process will be used to help Brightside ensure the development is the best fit for both the community and for residents as Brightside strives to increase the number of safe and secure affordable homes for those struggling to meet the demands of market housing.
