Casa Mia is a three-storey wood-frame building with primarily one- and two-bedroom suites. The property does not receive government subsidies, so applicants do not need BC Housing registration numbers. Pets and smoking are prohibited.
In 2024, Brightside purchased Casa Mia through the provincially-funded Rental Protection Fund. Geared toward preserving the existing affordability of the rental homes already on the site, Casa Mia is a low-end-of-market rental building with rates that are maintained well below market rents in the area. Casa Mia has shared laundry, outdoor amenity areas, an elevator, and secured underground parking.
