Brightside CEO William Azaroff was selected as the leader of Vancouver’s municipal OneCity party in February 2026. William commenced an extended, unpaid leave on June 1, 2026, leading up to the October 17, 2026 municipal election in order to focus on the campaign. William has been a committed leader in the community housing space, both as CEO of Brightside Community Homes Foundation, and on Boards of housing-centric organizations like the BC Non-Profit Housing Association (BCNPHA) and Community Housing Coverage (CHC). William is a dedicated proponent of housing affordability, equity, and community and Brightside supports William’s endeavour to lead the City.
Mary McKay, previously serving as Brightside’s Chief Operating Officer, will serve as Interim CEO in William’s absence. Mary joined Brightside in 2019 and brings 20+ years of experience in people & culture, change management, administration, policy development, and service improvement models. She has worked in the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors, and brings a demonstrated passion for community housing to support the organization and its mission with confidence and leadership.
